Interview with Ansemo Xunic at the 12 October 2011 protest, supporting the bill in favor of legalizing indigenous community radio stations in Guatemala.

Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán

Political repression has been rife in Guatemala since the military coup against President Jacobo Árbenz Guzmán in 1954.

The  coup d’état was engineered by the United States government and CIA, and Arbenz was replaced by a military junta, headed by Colonel Carlos Castillo.

He went into exile after the coup and died in Mexico in 1971.
